The result of painting or decorative plaster in Brno depends on the base. We level, repair and prime the wall so the finish holds and no cracks or shadows appear.
Unevenness, old paint and dust show through new paint or plaster, often only in raking light. That is why wall preparation is a separate part of the job and has its own items in the price list. In Brno and the surrounding area we do it before painting and before decorative skim coats.
Removing old paint (from 50 CZK/m²) and old wallpaper (from 50 CZK/m²), filling minor unevenness and cracks (from 80 CZK/m²), sanding the walls (from 30 CZK/m²) and priming the base (from 20 CZK/m²). For a more level base, full-surface skim coating is done: one coat from 150 CZK/m², two coats from 250 CZK/m². Before a decorative skim coat the base is also sanded and prepared, which is from 100 CZK/m² in the price list.
We see the extent of preparation during the visit. A sound, level wall needs only priming, while an old wall with cracked plaster and several layers of paint cannot do without filling and skim coating. Preparation is listed separately in the quote, so you know what you are paying for. You will find all items in the price list.

Answers to common questions
Depending on the condition of the wall, it is usually removing old paint or wallpaper, filling unevenness and cracks, sanding and priming. For very uneven walls, full-surface skim coating is added. We judge the extent during the visit and itemise it in the quote, so you can see what is necessary and what is optional. The visit in Brno and the surrounding area is free.
Priming starts from 20 CZK/m², sanding from 30 CZK/m², removing old paint from 50 CZK/m², filling unevenness from 80 CZK/m². Full-surface skim coating is from 150 CZK/m² in one coat and from 250 CZK/m² in two. The actual price depends on the condition of the wall, so we confirm it during a free visit.
Priming evens out the absorbency of the base and improves the adhesion of the paint, so we recommend it almost always. Without it the paint may soak into the base unevenly and the wall then looks patchy. Priming costs from 20 CZK/m² and is one of the cheapest parts of preparation. Before decorative plaster it goes without saying. We can tell during the visit whether your wall needs it.
Minor cracks and unevenness are filled (from 80 CZK/m²) and sanded once dry (from 30 CZK/m²). Larger or recurring cracks may be caused by movement in the masonry, and filling alone would not be enough, so they need to be assessed on site. Crack repairs are priced in the price list according to their extent.
We remove old paint and old wallpaper from 50 CZK/m². After removal the wall is cleaned, filled and primed, and only then is it ready for new paint, plaster or wallpaper. We estimate the extent and difficulty during the visit, because several layers of old paint take longer to remove than one.
When the wall is markedly uneven, cracked, or has various layers and repairs on the surface. Skim coating creates a level surface for paint, wallpaper and decorative plaster. One coat is from 150 CZK/m², two coats from 250 CZK/m². We decide how many coats are needed during the visit.
Decorative finishes are more demanding on the base, because every unevenness shows when they are applied. That is why the base is also sanded and prepared. In the price list this is a separate item from 100 CZK/m². We agree the extent and the specific steps during the visit, according to the condition of your wall.
